      About this Sencha

Sencha Gokou is a rare and precious sencha variety traditionally reserved for Japan’s most refined teas like Gyokuro and Tencha (used for premium Matcha). This 2025 harvest is especially unique - our Gokou was carefully shaded for 16 days, exceeding the typical Kabusecha standard and resulting in a tea of nice depth and character.

This Sencha Gokou was harvested from our tea field next to Hakusan Shrine, just across the street from d:matcha store.

Whether you are a seasoned tea drinker or simply exploring Japan’s finest offerings, this Kabuse-style Sencha will elevate your daily ritual.

      Tasting Notes

This Kabuse-style Sencha Gokou offers a refined balance of umami and freshness. Gentle shading brings out a smooth, seaweed-like savoriness layered with soft earthy notes, while preserving the clarity and lift characteristic of sencha. Bitterness is minimal, with a light touch of astringency that adds structure and a clean, spring-like finish.
